Since the BAA stated that they were extending this invitation to all registered runners who crossed the 1/2 marathon point but did not finish it is a simple solution; start these 5600 people in Wellesley around 8am (so hopefully they won’t interfere too much with the wheelchair racers screaming down the course behind them) or put them all together in a special Wave 4 (they can have yellow&blue bibs) start at 11am in Hopkinton.

I hope they increase the field to 40k or more. Using the waves they should be able to spread people out enough so that the crowding isn’t too bad.
Maybe all charity runners should provide their last marathon time and seed them accordingly. If they have never run a marathon, then they should go in the back.
With almost a year to plan, they should have enough time to figure out how to accomodate an add’l 15K runners.

Well said Ray, though I disagree with your and Amby’s opinions that charity runners should start ahead of qualifiers. That’s not what the race is founded on. Runners are rewarded by their qualifying time, and should not penalized for choosing not raising money for charity.
